Gidgegannup 10 Year Celebration

We had a wonderful celebration on Thursday 14 November commemorating 10 years in the district. It was attended by leaders from far and wide.

Edna Walters (Aglow Northern Suburbs, Perth) shared the power of trusting God and declaring His Word. She brought a Muslim-background believer who was happy to be interviewed by Edna and myself. Her mother had a vision of Jesus, which impacted her life, and now all her family serve Jesus.

What an amazing time we shared. The worship was led by a young woman who was saved when Edna spoke at one of our outreaches to York about 8 years ago.

About 45 people attended, some of whom had never been to an Aglow meeting before and are now showing interest in joining!

Lyn James, Leader of Gidgegannup Aglow.

If you're interested in hearing some of the history of Gidgegannup Aglow, please read the below! Thank you to Pam Randall for curating this.

Aglow Gidgegannup commenced on Thursday, 4th September 2014, after Lyn James had been a member of Midland Aglow and thought, “Why not begin an Aglow branch close to home in Gidgegannup, at the Gidgegannup Recreation Centre?” “Less distance to go to set up,” said Greg James, who has always been Lyn’s right-hand man, being of great assistance and support to Gidgegannup Aglow over the ten years. Thank you so much, Greg.

Lyn invited Nanette Esam, Pauline Drew, MaryAnn Mouritz, and Pam Randall to form the committee with her. Lyn, Nanette, and Pam have been a bonded team since the other ladies left—MaryAnn went interstate to live as a carer for her mother, and Pauline returned to full-time work.

Over the ten years, we have ventured out to York for an outreach, and many from that town have attended the Gidgegannup meetings, over 75 km away, on a regular basis.

For many years, Peter and Janet McLennan led our worship in a very joyful and encouraging way, often with backup singing from some of our York songsters. We are so grateful to the McLennans for their faithful service.

Whether it be 39 or 10 people who have attended our meetings, there has always been Holy Spirit encouragement and the most happy of fellowships. We have had our beloved past leaders, Kerry-Ellen Logan and Kaye Ballantyne, speak at our meetings, and we have been through the emotional grief of accepting their graduation to heaven.

Over our ten years, we have attended national conferences at Caloundra, Adelaide, and Sydney and have been altogether blessed by Aglow International Australia and Gidgegannup branch, growing spiritually and personally. We love our Lord Jesus and Aglow, and have found “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity” – Psalm 133:1.

Pam Randall, member of Gidgegannup Aglow.
