One Hundred Years in the Making

Aglow member Betty Ketels will reach 100 years on 2nd August 2024.

I first met Betty through Order of St Luke Healing Ministries when a chapter opened in my church in the 1980s. When that church closed in 1996, I moved to another which happened to be Betty's church, so I met with her more regularly.

One day I read a message on the church noticeboard about an Aglow meeting in the Senior Citizen's Club in Moorabbin. I had attended Aglow meetings at various times through the years but usually in the evening and not regularly. On my retirement in 2005, I began to attend Aglow Moorabbin in the mornings, led by the late Kay Mason and Betty was a current member

Before Kay's passing, Aglow Moorabbin closed when she and her family moved out of Melbourne as it was a long drive to meetings. Those who wished to, joined Aglow Chadstone. Betty, myself and Barbara (now deceased) were those who did. Betty attended until Aglow Chadstone moved from East Bentleigh to Ashwood which is further away.

Betty once told me that she gave her heart to the Lord Jesus at the 1959 Billy Graham Crusade in Melbourne.

Betty now resides at Elanora Aged Care, 7 Mair Street, Brighton, Victoria 3189.

May God bless Betty, and all Aglow members who no longer attend, and all currently in Aglow,

Muriel Van Twest

Leader, Aglow Chadstone
